The GPS feature provides 2,500 waypoints and 45 routes. It can also integrate with AutoChart/Live Navionics. These are almost always premium upgrades, and you will pay more.
Genesis Live mapping is one of the most advanced in the industry. C-Map contours are available with high-resolution detail. It also provides one-foot contours for more than 5,000 lakes throughout the country. It also includes 9,400 Canadian lakes if you fish up North. To access this information, however, you will need to purchase an optional SD card.
The Lakemaster feature is very similar to the structure scan found in many Lowrance fish finders. This feature helps you find pockets of vegetation where fish might be hiding. Lowrance Hook Reveal comes in three models. These are the Reveal 5, Reveal7, and Reveal9. The only difference between the models, as with most fish finders is their screen sizes. The screen size is not the only difference. However, there are some great features. Let's start with the GPS tech.
GPS combos are very useful. The GPS fishfinder combo's map feature lets you plot areas in which you could catch fish. You can even save the places you've mapped out. A fish finder feature allows you save the fishing spots you've mapped out so that you can return to them later. A map can be used to help navigate you from one location to the next. With the depth gauge you can create waypoints.
Mega+ Down and side imaging is also available. This is a fancy term for claiming that you have greater depth than other fish-finders. 360-degree imaging is my favorite sonar feature. The 360-degree imaging provides a view that goes beyond the boat's 125 feet.
You may be able to customize the display by buying multiple chart cards with some units. Choose a fish finder that offers pre-loaded chart cards, but if you need to change your map, you can always buy additional ones. A fish finder should be easy to use and accurate. You should be able to easily see contours on the color screen of your fish finder. You should also look for glare and backlight adjustments.
Active Imaging and the 3-in-1 transducer make it possible to obtain higher quality images at deeper levels. The 6-fold splitscreen lets you see all the images at once: side imaging, down image, structurescan, and even more.
